Register to Sell Coloured Fuel

Gasoline and diesel fuel that is taxed at a lower rate is coloured (also referred to as dyed or marked) to distinguish it from higher-taxed fuels. All sellers of coloured fuel must be authorized by the ministry.

Download and complete an Application for Authorization to Sell Coloured Fuel (FIN 461). If you cannot download the form, please contact us to obtain an application package.

You can also complete the form online and submit it electronically. When you submit an electronic application, you are certifying the information is true and complete. This is, in effect, your signature.

If you are submitting a hard-copy application, please complete and sign the application form and two copies of the accompanying authorization letter. Completed applications can be sent to us at:

Once your application is received, we will review it within 30 to 90 days. If you are approved, the authorization letters will be counter-signed and one copy will be returned to you for your records. Please note, specific terms and conditions may be imposed as a condition of authorization. We will also send you pump labels that must be attached to all your coloured fuel pumps.
